6 and 7? 7 in particular seems really wide open. Is there an obvious one I'm just not thinking of?

I think I have all except 11 and 13. I guess you either get these quickly or you suffer for a while.

Wow, this was Fun! Lots of possibilities! I'm actually surprised I got as many as I did as fast as I did.
My "Playing for time" messed me up (I should have just done the ironing instead of logging on tonight)

I fear I have to disagree with [18]; I found this to be a rare miss from Philana. So many of these phrases are far from unique, and in some cases aren't even all that phrasish, where other things would be better ("your life"; "improvement"; "the hills"...).

[20] Why do you FEAR to disagree to me? This is the USA - you have the freedom to express your own opinion WITHOUT being afraid.

[22] It's just that several people said the puzzle was fun, yet you singled out my comment...hmmm

What it really comes to is that your comment is GOOD for NOTHING....

Excellent Philana - From some of the comments above, it looks like some people forgot the meaning of the word puzzle. I love having to think!

Excellent puzzle! [20]'s criticism is well taken, but I dont think the clues are meant to be deterministic. Part of the fun for me was finding a word that fit the length and crossings.
I didn't try, but I didn't come up with any alternatives that fit the blanks and the crossings.
